Sermon // “Stand Firm Against Grumbling” Jude 14-16

  1. As our study has focused on the challenge of false teaching existing in the church, can you name things that have been difficult to discern for the global church.
    a. Have you made the desire for wisdom and discernment part of your prayer life? How do these verses apply to you:
        i. Proverbs 2:3-6
        ii. James 1:5-8
    b. How is humility an important factor needed for discernment? How do these verses apply:
        i. Jeremiah 17:9
        ii. 2 Corinthians 12:5


  1. Ultimately, grumbling and complaining is venting dissatisfaction with God’s will and His way. How was this the case in each of Jude’s examples:
    a. Israel
    b. Sodom
    c. Fallen angels
    d. Cain
    e. Korah
    f. Balaam


  • If you are honest, what are the things in your life that initiate grumbling and malcontent? What does Jude’s letter say about this?  (What pattern is seen in the letter?)
