What is membership? Churches have used different terms (e.g., “joining community”, “covenant membership,” etc). Membership is a commitment to one another––a willing pledge to guard, care, support, and minister together for the building up of our church community.
For as in one body we have many members, and the members do not all have the same function, so we, though many, are one body in Christ, and individually members one of another. Romans 12:4-5
If you are interested in becoming a member at Bayview, we offer two classes.
What is Church Membership? Our first class will review the need for the gospel of Jesus Christ as shown in Scripture and how the gospel moves us into participation with the unified body of Christ. We focus on how one becomes a follower of Christ through the acknowledgment that God is righteous, man is sinner, Christ is Savior, and the need to respond with trust and repentance. The class also covers the responsibilities that Christians, as the visible and local body of Christ, have toward one another.
What does Bayview Church value? In our second membership class, we review our Bayview church values: Christ, Community, and Culture. We expound on Bayview’s desire to see its members develop a passion for Christ and how to integrate that passion into the community and culture of their lives, including family, work, and leisure time. The overarching goal then is to have gospel-led believers coming together to bless the island of Guam by being passionate for Jesus Christ while pursuing the good of all.
